Energy Savings
Heat pumps transfer heat rather than generating it through electrical resistance. Depending on the equipment and operating conditions, a high-efficiency mini-split can deliver approximately 1.5 to 4 units of heat for every unit of electricity consumed.
As a rough seasonal estimate, a system averaging 2.5 units of heat per unit of electricity can use around 60% less electricity for heating than standard electric resistance heating. Actual savings depend on outdoor temperatures, system efficiency, electricity rates, and how the system is used. Mini-splits can also offer more efficient cooling than conventional window air conditioners.
